Coach Bios:

    Shannon Hamrick

    Shannon is no longer coaching SAWS. She is included here having authored just about every workout in our database. Currently, she is directing Flow Aquatics. In her own words:

    For a child who hated taking baths, I'd have to say...I no longer have an aversion to the water! To sum all that mess up below: I've been swimming most of my life, it's in my blood, I love it and I get a natural high off of teaching/coaching people to love it too (well if not love it, at least kinda like it!)
    SWIMMING EXPERIENCE:

    • 1981 - 1987: Competed on the British school swim, gymnastics, modern dance, and netball teams in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

    • 1988 - 1993: Year-round member of RVSI Gators Swim Team, Roanoke, VA. Competed in a number of “Y” Nationals and Junior National meets throughout the country.

    • 1993 - 1997: Recruited by the U.S. Air Force Academy. During 4-year tenure on the swim team, the team won 2 NCAA II Championships; served as Team Captain during Junior and Senior years; awarded, 14 time NCAA All-American titles; and broke 3 school records (1 individual, 2 relays).

    • Sep 1999: Competed in swimming and life guarding events in the 2000 World Military Games in Zagreb, Croatia, medaling in several life guarding events.


    EDUCATION:

    U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Spring, CO 1993 – 1997

    • B.S. in Human Factors Engineering (Behavioral Sciences)

    Fielding Institute, Santa Barbara, CA Jan 1999 – Aug 2000

    • M.A. in Organizational Design and Effectiveness


    COACHING/TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

    • 1989 - 1990 (Summer): Taught swim lessons for summer league swim team members

    • 1992 - 1993 (Summer): Head Coach of Forest Hills Swim Team (Summer League), Roanoke, VA

    • 1995 - 1996 (Summer): Coach and instructor for 2 summer sessions of the at U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Swim Camp

    • 1998 - 2000: Head Coach for a year-round Age Group USA Swimming Team and high school swim team, in Mountain Home, ID

    • 2002 - 2006: Head Coach for YMCA Sawtooth Masters Swimming Club, Boise, ID

    • 2001 - Current: Head Coach for Timberline High School, Boise, ID

SAWS belongs to the USMS - Snake River LMSC, which holds secret monthly meetings on unspecified dates at an undisclosed location, at times announced just prior to the meetings.
